About Me

Hey there! My name is Rhoel, and welcome to my blog.

I started this space to document my journey of learning Spanish all the way to fluency (crossfingers).

Flashback to 2022: I arrived in Madrid to start a new chapter of my life. Even though I had spent a year on apps and online courses before moving, the truth hit me hard—I still couldn’t speak or understand Spanish the way I thought I would.

Fast forward to 2025: I managed to pass my A2 DELE exam as part of my Spanish citizenship application. That felt like a win, but now I’m officially a B1 student… and this is where the real struggle begins. This is the stage where Spanish tenses stop making sense, where my brain starts to short-circuit because it needs to build brand new pathways just to understand what’s going on.

Honestly? B1 has me stuck. Speaking still feels like climbing a wall I can’t get over. That’s why I created this blog—to share my ups and downs as I try to push through, experiment with different methods, and keep going toward (hopefully!) C1 or even C2.

If you’re also learning Spanish and it feels confusing, then we´re on the same boat. I don’t have all the answers—I’m figuring it out in real time. But maybe by sharing what works (and what doesn’t), this blog can help both of us move forward.

We don’t know what the future holds for us, but as for me, I never imagined I’d end up in Madrid, learning Spanish and starting over in a new country. Yet here I am, stumbling, experimenting, and blogging the process, hoping that little by little it will lead to something good—for me, and for you too.
