Setting: Alba surprises her girlfriend Carmen at home on her birthday.

Alba:
 ¡Feliz cumpleaños, mi amor! ¡Felicidades! NM: Happy birthday, my love! Best wishes! LT: Happy birthday, my love! Congratulations!
Carmen:
 ¡Muchas gracias, cielo! Qué ilusión me hace celebrar este día juntas. NM: Thank you so much, sweetie! I’m so excited to celebrate this day together. LT: Many thanks, sky! What illusion me it makes to celebrate this day together.
Alba:
 Tengo un regalo para ti en la mesa. NM: I have a gift for you on the table. LT: I have a gift for you on the table.
Pero dime antes, ¿cuántos años tienes ya? ¿Veinte? NM: But tell me first, how old are you now? Twenty? LT: But tell me before, how many years you have already? Twenty?
Que no cumple uno! ¡Que no cumple dos! ¡Que no cumple tres!… NM: Not turning one! Not turning two! Not turning three!… LT: That not completes one! That not completes two! That not completes three!…
Carmen:
 ¡Calla, cielo! ¿Que vas a contar hasta veinte? Y no tengo veinte años. NM: Shut up, sweetie! Are you going to count all the way to twenty? And I’m not twenty years old. LT: Shut up, sky! That you are going to count until twenty? And not I have twenty years.
¡Hoy ya tengo dieciocho años! ¡Cómo vuela el tiempo! NM: Today I’m already turning eighteen! How time flies! LT: Today already I have eighteen years! How flies the time!
¿Y tú? ¿Cuántos años tienes? ¿Veinte tú? NM: And you? How old are you? You´re the one who is twenty? LT: And you? How many years do you have? You twenty?
Alba:
 ¡Qué dices! ¡No! Yo también tengo diecinueve. NM: What are you talking about! No! I’m nineteen too. LT: What you say! No! I also have nineteen.
Pero el año que viene sí cumplo veinte. NM: But next year I am turning twenty. LT: But the year that comes yes I complete twenty.
¿A que no parezco de veinte? ¿A que aparento menos? NM: I don´t look twenty do I? I look younger don’t I? LT: To that not I seem of twenty? To that I appear less?
Carmen:
 Sí, lo que tú digas, cielo. NM: Yeah, whatever you say, sweetie. LT: Yes, that which you say, sky.
Alba:
 Oye, ¿cómo celebras tu cumpleaños este fin de semana? NM: Hey, how are you celebrating your birthday this weekend? LT: Hear, how you celebrate your birthday this end of week?
Carmen:
 Normalmente celebro con mi familia, pero este año quería pasarlo contigo. NM: Normally I celebrate with my family, but this year I wanted to spend it with you. LT: Normally I celebrate with my family, but this year I wanted to pass it with you.
Alba:
 ¡Ah, gracias! Me encanta. Ah, tengo una sorpresa para ti. NM: Ah, thanks! I love that. Ah, I have a surprise for you. LT: Ah, thanks! To me it enchants. Ah, I have a surprise for you.
Cierra los ojos… ¡Tachán! Es una tarta de chocolate. NM: Close your eyes… Ta-da! It’s a chocolate cake. LT: Close the eyes… Ta-da! It is a cake of chocolate.
Vamos a probar la tarta. NM: Let’s try the cake. LT: We are going to try the cake.
Carmen:
 ¡Qué buena pinta! La tarta está rica, no está súper dulce. NM: Looks so good! The cake is delicious, it´s not overly sweet. LT: What good look! The cake is tasty, not it is super sweet.
Año tras año te superas con la repostería. NM: Year after year you outdo yourself with the baking. LT: Year after year you surpass yourself with the pastry baking.
Alba:
 Quería comprarte un pastel de tu pastelería favorita. NM: I wanted to buy you a cake from your favorite bakery. LT: I wanted to buy you a cake from your pastry shop favorite.
Es que pensé que te merecías algo mejor, así que te he hecho una. NM: But I thought you deserved something better, so I made you one. LT: It is that I thought that you deserved something better, so that to you I have made one.

Alba:

Carmen:
 ¡Ay, qué detalle! Muchas gracias, mi amor. NM: Oh, how thoughtful! Thank you so much, my love. LT: Oh, what detail! Many thanks, my love.
Eres la novia más generosa del mundo. NM: You are the most generous girlfriend in the world. LT: You are the girlfriend most generous of the world.
Alba:
 ¡Me alegro mucho de que te guste! NM: I’m so glad you like it! LT: To me I make glad much of that to you it pleases!
Carmen:
 ¡Gracias por todo, mi amor! NM: Thanks for everything, my love! LT: Thanks for all, my love!
Alba:
 De nada, ¡a disfrutar de tus dieciocho! NM: You’re welcome, enjoy your eighteen! LT: Of nothing, to enjoy of your eighteen!
